The Still Life series reflects a realm of calm and balance, as qualities of light, density and transparency are explored through the wire mesh medium. While working in the atelier of Gérard Singer at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris, computer generated drawings became integrated into some of these works such as “Still Life with Water Glass,” building upon earlier perspective studies. Eventually the Still Life artwork evolved into a sub-series inspired by Cubism: through the stitching together of wire mesh swatches, multi-faceted works emerged, composed of varied planes and geometric shapes (“Still Life with Grapes II”).
