Compositions in Abalone is a series infused with the iridescent colors of nature. Abalone shells were selected as a means of integrating color, while retaining some thread of resonance with the reflective-metallic surfaces of the classic works. After arranging shell placement, each facet of abalone was either stitched into canvas, or set into a sculpture medium. This series was created during a life transition: personal forms emerge, from artist hand and footprints, to images of family.
